Good morning y’all,
If you’re new here, be sure to start with the mini-course on allwaysaway.com, if you’re a frequent flyer let’s jump straight in:
BILT Rent Day Promo for FlyingBlue (Air France & KLM)
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card Offer
Hyatt All Inclusive Properties
Visa $200 Gift Cards Offer at Staples
BILT Rent Day Promo for FlyingBlue (Air France & KLM)
For the uninitiated, the BILT Rewards Credit Card is known for it’s ability to earn 1x points on purchases like rent, HOA dues, etc that wouldn’t typically earn points. They do this by opening a Wells Fargo checking account that’s linked to your card and is used to make payments while still earning BILT points. That means you can pay everyone from your landlord to Verizon without having to worry about credit card convenience fees.
If you’re paying $3,000 a month in rent, you could now earn 36k points per year. The higher your rent, the more valuable this card may be. Learn more here.
That alone may not be a compelling argument for a new card, especially in a time of six-figure signup bonuses, so the team at BILT created a few other perks:
No annual fee
Extensive list of point transfer partners
Monthly “Rent Day” promos for point transfer
Rent Day is the first of the month and on Monday, May 1st, BILT is offering 100% transfer bonus to FlyingBlue, the shared point program of Air France & KLM. I’ve had my eyes on Air France First & Business Class ever since they renovated their cabins, so I’m quite tempted to break my rule and transfer without having any immediate plans for travel.
Beyond the bonus, they have special point fares, detailed here. The business class routes are great deals considering the doubling of points being transferred over:
Business Class (Paris or Amsterdam Direct)
To/From Newark starting at 41,250 Flying Blue Miles one-way
To/From Houston starting at 48,750 Flying Blue Miles one-way
To/From Washington-Dulles starting at 52,500 Flying Blue Miles one-way
To/From Atlanta starting at 52,500 Flying Blue Miles one-way
To/From Dallas starting at 52,500 Flying Blue Miles one-way
There’s so much more to say about this card, and I may dedicate a full issue to it, but for now here’s a referral link if you’re interested in learning more.
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card Offer
Quite of few of y’all have been patiently waiting for the Chase Sapphire Preferred to come back with a sweet deal, here it is. Before I get into it, note that there’s still a slightly elevated offer of 90,000 bonus points if you’re willing to make an appointment in a Chase branch. I took that route for my Preferred a few years ago and they managed to make a 5 minute process take 50 minutes.
Regardless, Chase Sapphire Preferred is our top choice because of its amazing signup bonus, reasonable annual fee, and the outsized value of the points it earns.
Benefits include:
$50 annual Ultimate Rewards Hotel Credit
5X points on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards®
3X points on dining and 2X points on all other travel purchases, plus more.
The Preferred Card also enables you to transfer any other non-Ultimate Rewards points from Chase cards like the Freedom or Ink Business Cards to the Preferred and use them for travel or transfer partners. This alone is worth the $95 annual fee for us, and it is why the Preferred (or a Chase Sapphire Reserve®) is a must have for all travelers.
Hyatt All Inclusive Properties
In August 2021 Hyatt added over 100 all-inclusive hotels to the World of Hyatt rewards program. While the properties in the Americas can be quite pricey, I was surprised to see how reasonable the European properties are and wanted to share a few quick tips on how to navigate the 42 of them that are currently bookable in Spain, Bulgaria, and the Greek Islands.
How do I earn Hyatt points?
Transfer points directly from Chase and BILT
Earn points through various Hyatt co-branded credit cards like The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card
Earn points on eligible stays at Hyatt and MGM properties
How many points will I need?
Unlike standard World of Hyatt redemptions which are on a numerical category scale from 1-8, all inclusive properties are graded A-F with A being the most affordable. While many properties in the Americas are on the back half of the chart, I don’t believe a single property in Europe is above 29k points per night, with many under 20k. For reference, the Chase Sapphire Preferred offer would earn you 4 nights at an all-inclusive property, easily valued over $350/night.
Where are the properties?
Now for the fun part, you can see the properties on World of Hyatt or check out Tim’s post on Frequent Miler for an easier list to navigate.
The “Alua” brand makes up the bulk of the portfolio, know that the Alua & AluaSun are family-focused, while the AluaSoul properties are adults only.
We’re looking into the following three properties:
To help build our Hyatt points stash, we’ll be taking advantage of tomorrow’s Staples promotion on Visa Gift Cards…
Visa $200 Gift Cards Offer at Staples
Staples is offering fee-free $200 Visa Gift Cards starting Sunday, April 30 through Saturday, May 6, 2023. The limit is 8 gift cards per customer per day, meaning you can max out this promotion by making one trip per day for the full week and acquiring 56 cards, total spend of $11,200
That’s a bit intense, but if you have large purchases coming up this is a great way to ensure you’re getting 5x on everything, assuming you’re buying these with an Ink Cash card. Read more about this idea in our last post “Earning 9.30% on Everything!”
Thanks for reading, please share this with someone who needs a points 101. If you’re just getting started or need a refreshed, but sure to read the mini-course at allwaysaway.com
