And we’re back!
Japan is a trip to the future and the past simultaneously. A country so steeped in tradition and craftsmanship, yet embracing of technology and innovation. Each time I visit this special place, I leave appreciative of how unique of a society it is. As exciting as that uniqueness is, it can also feel foreign and perhaps unapproachable. To help quell any doubt, Annette and I have compiled some recommendations so you can make the most of your time in this beautiful country while also making the most of your points. — Link below…
Did you know?
It takes about 1 day per hour of time difference to truly adjust back 😵💫
Today we have 3 links to share:
Reminder — Hyatt category changes take place on Tuesday 3/28, be sure to make any rewards certificates or points bookings beforehand and check this official list for impacted hotels.
Transfer Bonus — Capital One is offering a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin Red. Virgin Red is simply the new name for all Virgin points, inclusive of flights and cruises. While Virgin Atlantic recently raised the price of their ANA First Class redemptions, it’s still one of the best values in the sky. Further, you can even book a cruise with Virgin points, so it’s worth exploring.

Card Recommendations
Throughout our trip in Japan, we found ourselves predominantly using two cards:
(1) American Express® Gold Card
While the 4x on Supermarkets is limited to the United States, the 4x on restaurants can be earned worldwide, making this card super valuable when traveling.
Current offer: Earn 60,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $4,000 on eligible purchases with your new Card within the first 6 months. Terms Apply.
(2) Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
While many cards only earn point multipliers in the States, there are a few Capital One cards that earn 2x points on all purchases regardless of location or category. Combined with the $300 travel credit, this card also proved to be a VIP in Japan.
Current offer: Earn 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening, equal to $750 in travel.
