New to credit card points & miles? Start with the mini-course!
Good morning,
Reporting live from the United Polaris Lounge in O’Hare and it’s gorgeous. Quite the departure from the United Clubs peppered across the country. I’m currently sipping a freshly pressed cappuccino and excited to grab some breakfast momentarily. More excited to board our biz class flight to Tokyo.
Enough of us, let’s get to the point:
Capital One Virgin 30% Transfer Bonus
Business Class to Istanbul
Secure a Hotel Upgrade in 5 Minutes
Capital One Virgin 30% Transfer Bonus
Capital One is offering a 30% bonus when you transfer points to Virgin Red from now until March 30th. Virgin Red is the airline’s new overarching loyalty program. To take advantage of this offer, you’ll need to create a Virgin Red account even if you have an existing Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account. Any existing points you may have in a Flying Club account can be linked to the Red one within a few minutes.
Virgin is how we booked our Japan trip via ANA, which is by far one of the best redemptions at 95,000 points round trip (120,000 for first). Beyond that, Virgin has fantastic sweet spots to New Zealand, UK/Europe and even Hawaii. And if you’re the cruising type, check out these amazing deals for 2 to the Caribbean or Mediterranean!

Business Class to Istanbul
Turkey is quite high up on our must-visit list, and Turkish Airlines has availability from multiple cities to the gorgeous city of Istanbul in the fall/winter timeframe.
Route: IAD/JFK/ORD/SEA/SFO - IST
Dates: October 2023 - February 2024
You can book this round trip for 80,000 points through Asiana Club or 90,000 points through Turkish Miles&Smiles. Transfer partners include Bilt, Citi, Capital One, and Marriott cards.
Hotel Quick Tip
A simple tip for your next trip is to email or message your hotel(s) in advance and let them know how excited you are for your visit, as well as any occasion you might be celebrating. This is how we found ourselves upgraded to an incredible suite complete with its own steam-room at the Westin Palace in Milan (pic below) after our wedding. Sending a short yet thoughtful note costs nothing and could make your stay much more special.
